Broomfield Debating Society has debated for two days in an international competition this half-term. Our pupils beat teams from the Philippines, Nepal and some from Eton College. There were also teams from the USA online. Our top debaters were only 30 points behind the winners who won 782 points in total. All six Broomfield pupils debated seriously on topics such as the decline of the US economy, bias in the media and international population control. Our teams have had a lot of practice as they debated last year at Oxford Union, UCL and online in Imperial Schools, Cambridge Union, Oxford Schools and the English Speaking Mace.
