Key Stage 4 Curriculum


All Key stage 4 students follow a two-year course leading to GCSE examinations, or alternative accreditation, including BTEC courses. All students follow a core curriculum that includes:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Personal, Health, Social and Emotional Education
  • Physical Education
  • Religious Education

In addition, students can choose from a range of GCSEs and vocational qualifications. Pupils are offered the following choices:

  • History or Geography
  • French or Spanish
  • Pupils are then able to make two options from a range of subjects. Subject currently being taught at KS4 are:
    • GCSE PE
    • GCSE Media
    • GCSE Drama
    • GCSE Art
    • GCSE Design and Technology
    • GCSE Triple Science
    • GCSE Sociology
    • Cambridge Nationals ICT
    • Btec Health and Social Care

A small amount of pupils will only take 8 GCSE equiv subjects and will also have Support Studies instead of the nineth GCSE.

Broomfield School also offers a work experience placement for all those in Key Stage 4 in order to help prepare them for life beyond school and to aid in their prospective career choices.
